I used to be able to sing really well. My range was amazing. But I’ve had stomache and throat problems since 7th grade and now that I’m in high school, its been getting worse. The doctor told me its all acid. (ick!) I love singing. It was like my life. Is there any way I could be able to sing again?

I would think it would be up to your own pain tolerance unless the acid scars the throat which I think could even threaten the quality of your voice. You should lay off all acidic foods for a while and maybe see someone to help with the acid. Try a ND or a L.Ac. Chinese herbs are powerful medicine.

Hopefully your doctor has prescribed medication to help with the acid reflux. Sometimes it is bad enough that you need to undergo a surgery, like a nissen fundoplication, to correct the sphincter at the top of your stomach so things don’t leak back up your throat. Put blocks under the head of your bed, avoid eating near bedtime, and get a second opinion if you think your doctor isn’t addressing the problem well enough. Chronic acid reflux can lead to major problems later on in life. Treat it now and save a lot a trouble later!
