Product Description |
Heartburn Cured was written by a by a microbiologist who has proposed a novel root cause of GERD. The book has received favorable reviews by scientists, physicians and health advocacy groups. Previous theories held that certain (trigger) foods could relax or weaken the LES muscles and trigger reflux. This makes no sense and does not fit the facts. Heartburn Cured provides overwhelming evidence that GERD is ultimately caused by repeated cycles of carbohydrate malabsorption and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). When this happens, normally harmless bacteria become harmful. That is because the overgrowing bacteria produce lots of gas (carbon dioxide, hydrogen and methane) by a process called fermentation. If too much gas is produced but not dissipated by intestinal absorption or metabolism by gas consuming bacteria, it can create pressure in the small intestine and stomach that actually drives the reflux of stomach contents past the LES into the esophagus. Of course, people with weakened or defective LES muscles will be more susceptible to reflux.
Understanding the true root cause of GERD provided a powerful lens through which a successful GERD diet could be created. Symptoms are controlled through the management of carbohydrates which are subject to malabsorption. The diet offers a variety of delicious foods including fruits, vegetables, fish, meats and healthy fats that will allow you to gain control of heartburn and other GERD symptoms in as little as two days.

Hello Dr. Robillard...

I have wanted to get in touch with you for some time now to let you know my results after reading your book...
Just like you claim, my symptoms (heartburn & coughing) were gone in 2 days. Four days later i stopped taking the PPI drug. A week later i was able to lay flat in bed as opposed to a 60-degree angle. What's more, i have lost almost 20 lbs. I have discovered through your method that my netcarb threshold is around 40g/day, hence the dramatic & continued weightloss- i feel so much better.
I have been telling everyone about your book and the diet (without giving too much away) And i've given out all those cards you included.
Thanks so much for your research, putting this material together and making it available!
Best to you!

You cannot go wrong with this book! Do you suffer with really bad GERD? (gastroesophageal reflux disease). Then here is the answer for you. A low carb diet stops the entire acid reflux problem and allows you to once again live a normal life. No more angling of the bed, no more waiting three to four hours after your nightly meal to lay down, no more PILLS! You can live normally again and even enjoy your wine or cocktails without agony of reflux. This is the key...carbs are sugar makers...when you digest carbs it makes lots of gas...the gas blows open the lower esophageal sphincter...and you get reflux. Without the carbs...no gas, no reflux. This is simplifying the process immensely, but it's the basics. And here's the other great part of this diet to control this disease. You can cheat and still feel good. Once a week I have a huge baked potato with butter and sour cream and no reflux results. I also have a small piece of bittersweet chocolate every other night...no reflux!
If you want to maintain a healthy weight, this is also a great diet to be on. I don't eat a lot of eggs or beef, but maintain my diet with fresh salads, fresh veggies, a lot of ocean fish and chicken. We have a piece of lean red meat once a week. You are welcome to have more, but I choose not to. I am so greatful to Dr. Robillard for writing this book and saving my life. The pain I experienced before reading his book was horrid...I hurt all the time, went to bed with a heating pad every night and cried about my life being over...but then, hallelujah...I found this book and am back to enjoying life and feeling great.
If you suffer, please, please please try this diet and read this book. Tests at Duke University back up this whole premise, but Dr. Robillard tells you why. Save yourself the pain, get off the pills, and enjoy life again. Yes there are restrictions, but the few you have to make are worth it for the benefits of feeling great again!
I love you Dr. Norm...you saved my life! |

| Great book on the dietary causes of GERD and a very easy read. The information given, by the author, was detailed without being overwhelming to the layperson. The diagrams and illustrations really added a lot to understanding the digestive process and how various carbohydrates affect the digestive system. |

| If you have reflux and are taking medication then read this book. Simple advice which will prevent pain and suffering and even stop progression towards an eventual death from esophageal cancer. If you follow the advice you will also reduce your odds for other diseases such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. |

| I have not read this book but am simply commenting on the fact that a few medical studies and tons of anecdotal evidence exist that support this book's premise. You certainly don't need to buy this book or follow his special diet to find out for yourself that eating fewer refined carbs will reduce/eliminate heartburn. I found this out accidentally when I went on the South Beach diet for several months - within 3 days I noticed I wasn't having any heartburn (normally a twice-daily occurrence that was so bad I would get headaches from the pain). This discovery was a miracle that literally changed my life and while I may not be dieting any longer, I still eat very few refined carbs. When I do indulge, the heartburn comes roaring back. So, buy the book if you're interested in this particular diet plan, but it's really not necessary if you just want to know that fewer carbs means less heartburn. |
